I learnt to drive in a Volkswagen Polo in the UK (similar to a Golf). I really liked it, so I ended up buying a second-hand VW Jetta GLX (V6) as my first car in the US. The engine size of 2.7L seemed absolutely massive, since an engine size of just 1.1-1.6 is normal in the UK (or at least it was while I lived there!)
